Aislinn the Bard

I am the daughter of a poor estate,
With no dowry there’s no man who’d have me as wife.
The tower called out so gently to me
Said a Keeper’s oath would set me free.

Chorus:
And the years pass by, and the nights and the days,
And the people may change, but my work stays the same.
Though you love them well, they must leave any way;
While here alone in the tower I stay.

When I was much younger I too knew a man
Who was here in the Tower at his father’s command.
We grew very close, though no lovers were we,
And since he left, he’s not spoken to me.

Chorus:
And the years pass by, and the nights and the days,
And the people may change, but my work stays the same.
Though I loved him well, he left anyway;
While here alone in the tower I stayed.

Now they say that the joy of a Keeper is fame,
And they say that the price of a Keeper is pain.
The soul of the keeper is the passionless fire
Of the energon rings burning higher and higher.

Chorus:
And the years pass by, and the nights and the days,
And the people may change, but my work stays the same.
Though I love them well, they leave any way;
While here alone in the tower I must stay.

My child, will you, too, die alone in the end,
With naught but a matrix to call your friend?
With only the relays to echo your name?
In fiery blue ice, they’re forever the same.

Chorus:
And your years pass by, and your nights and your days,
And the people may change, but your work stays the same.
Though you love them well, they leave anyway.
While here alone in the Tower you must stay.

My child, please listen to my passionate plea:
You’ve a chance in this life to be married and free.
Go from the Tower while you’re still so afraid,
For after I’ve trained you, you’ll not be the same.

Chorus:
And the years will pass by, and your nights and your days,
And your circle may change, but your work will stay the same.
Till like me, you’ll die alone in the end,
With naught but a matrix to call your friend.
