Song History and Tune
This song is a lyrical parody of the Programmer's Alphabet which can be sung to the tune of either Sweet Betsy from Pike or Witnesses' Waltz. I mostly perform the song to the "Witnesses' Waltz tune with a harp accompaniment, just because somehow, this tune is much more poignant than the SBFP tune.
So watch the video and just imagine the transformation that happens with a Celtic harp accompaniment and these words!
A is the anchors that make our page flow
B is the browsers we're getting to know
C is the Css styles we use
D is for div tags that give us the blues.
Programming, programming all through the night
We're stuck her until the whole Web site works right
Programming programming isn't it fun
Updating starts when the publishing's done.
E is the elegant art, our delight
F is for floating to left and to right
G is for Google we handle with care
H is the hyperlink going nowhere
I is the Internet, home of us fools
J is for Jquery plugins so cool
K is the klooge that makes my pages fly
L is for later to fix it I'll try.
Programming, programming, all through the night
I'm stuck here until the whole Web site works right
Programming, programming, isn't it fun,
Updating starts when the publishing's done.
M is the meta-tags filling the head
N is the nav bar I face with such dread
O is for Opera I once knew so well
P's PHP sending my data to hell!
Q's the QR code that merchants adore.
R is results--ah, we always want more!
S is the search engine notice we crave
T is for tables, now going away
Programming, programming all through the night
I'm stuck here until the whole Web site works right
Programming programming, isn't it fun
Updating starts when the publishing's done.
U is the user, that unhappy girl,
V is the vengeance she wreaks on the world
W is the Web our greatest delight
X is the XML map of our site.
Y is the "yes" I replied by mistake
Z's the Z-index making my page look so great!
Eighty more pages I wanted to send,
But the server's timed out so I think I should end.
Programming, programming all through the night
We're stuck here until the whole Web site works right.
Programming, programming, isn't it fun
Updating starts when the publishing's done.
